Description
Description

Nicknamed “the acacia of the mountains,” rhododendron honey is a rare and prized honey due to its limited production. It is distinguished by its light color (golden yellow when liquid, white after slow crystallization due to its high fructose content) and its refined flavor, evoking the mountains and flower-filled meadows. Its light aroma is delicate. Its mild flavor is floral with a woody note on the finish. French rhododendron honey is harvested mainly in the summer.

This honey contains numerous balanced trace elements and potentially erlose. It is said to have anti-rheumatic properties and to tone the skin.

About Les Abeilles de Malescot

Formerly a grain farm located in the town of Bouglon in Lot-et-Garonne, the Malescot estate has been transformed into an organic beekeeping operation dedicated to creating an ideal environment for bees. This conversion, the result of a long transition, involves daily work selecting honey plants, maintaining plots, and planting hedges, all aimed at recreating a natural ecosystem that requires human intervention. The estate has also incorporated a honey production and processing facility to ensure optimal traceability and minimize transportation.

Honey crystallization

All honeys crystallize! Contrary to a fairly widespread belief, this is by no means a sign of poor honey quality or the addition of sugar. However, this natural phenomenon varies depending on the floral origin of the honey and its storage temperature. How can you liquefy honey that is too hard or too grainy? Simply place the jar of honey in a water bath, ensuring the temperature does not exceed 45°C, as this could cause it to lose its nutritional qualities. Note: This will still alter its organoleptic qualities, particularly its taste and aroma. It’s best to leave it in its natural state!
